With more than 17 years of carpentry experience outside of Canada, Oliver McKevitt joined Building Builders with a clear goal: to understand how his skills could translate into a Construction
Superintendent role in the Canadian industry.Through mentorship, Oliver gained insight into how trades, supervisors, and site leadership work together on Canadian construction projects. His mentor helped him better understand the scope of the
Superintendent role and how to position his experience for long-term advancement. Alongside guidance, Building Builders supported Oliver with tools, PPE, Builders Code courses, and Construction Safety for Supervisors training—practical resources that helped remove barriers and support his transition. After joining the program, Oliver gained employment as a Carpenter, with his employer open to him progressing into a Superintendent role.
