With experience in both industrial and construction electrical work in his home country, Reza Ramezanisarbandi joined Building Builders with a clear goal: to transition into a construction electrician role and build a long-term career in Canada’s construction industry.
As a newcomer to Canada whose first language is Farsi, Reza was seeking guidance on Canadian industry standards, technical skill development, job search strategies, and professional networking. Mentorship was a key part of his plan to accelerate his learning curve, understand workplace expectations, and navigate career opportunities with confidence.
Through Building Builders, Reza was matched with a mentor who is also a newcomer to Canada and a Project Manager specializing in electrical special projects. This shared experience provided valuable perspective and practical insight into career planning, workplace culture, and long-term growth within the industry. With his mentor’s support, Reza has been able to better align his international experience with Canadian construction practices and expectations.
Alongside mentorship, Building Builders provided Reza with tools and SiteReadyBC training, practical support that removed barriers and helped him focus on developing his skills and preparing for the next step in his career. Reza has also submitted his request for approval to write the Construction Electrician Red Seal exam, which he plans to complete in 2026.
“I would like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time and effort to support me through the tool assistance program. I truly appreciate the investment you have made in my professional growth and career development. Your support motivates me to continue improving my skills and contributing positively to my work and future projects.” — Reza Ramezanisarbandi, BCCA Building Builders Mentee
Reza’s story reflects how Building Builders supports newcomers in translating international experienceinto meaningful career pathways, building confidence, capability, and opportunity within Canada’s construction workforce.
